Will Tor run on an older version of Android?

Can you use Tor on Android lollipop 5.1.1?

I’m considering buying an older android but not sure if tor is compatible.

What older version of Android OS would be preferable?

The latest Tor Browser for Android (i.e. 11.5.3) is based on Firefox for Android 99.0, so it is compatible with devices running Android 5.0 or above. Hence, Tor Browser for Android should run on a Lollipop device although given that this version of Android is highly outdated your mileage may vary.

I will always encourage to use the version of any operating system that still, at the very minimum, receives security updates. For Android, looking at the latest Android Security Bulletin, that seems to be Android 10.
