The Tor Browser Stopped Working

I am experiencing a weird issue on the tor browser. When I search for something the website does not open properly. I don’t understand what could be the issue behind this. I am having this issue since yesterday night. Other browsers, such as Chrome and Firefox, are fully functional. But why this browser is not only working like before, I really don’t understand. Could someone please help me friends to fix the issue?

I did not use a VPN that could have caused the problem. Then what could be the reason for this. Please help me friend.

Can you please elaborate on this part? What are you exactly seeing when trying to access the website? Any error messages? A blank page? This information will be of great help to figure what’s going wrong.

That said, it could be a number of things, like:

  1. JavaScript is disabled in your Tor Browser. If yes, try to change your ‘Security Settings’ to Standard or Safer.
  2. The website is outright blocking Tor connections now. You can try to change the Tor circuit to this website.

After opening the website for a while, I am getting this error message the connection has timed out.

How can I able to do this?

By clicking on the padlock (:lock:) icon in the URL bar and then clicking on 'New Circuit for this Site or click on the hamburger menu on upper right corner and then on ‘New Tor circuit for this Site’.

Sorry @championquizzer I tried this, but still, the problem persists.

But @championquizzer I found this article that suggested some methods that might be helpful to resolve the issue. As I am not techy, if you tell me which solution will be helpful to solve the issue, I shall be grateful.

If I follow the step to disable the firewall, then at the end of the step I found this

Then what to do. Choose the network and turn off the firewall mentioned in the article. But I did not find any of these.

@CollinEmmerich, this doesn’t look like a firewall issue to me. Can you access other websites over Tor Browser alright? Or more specifically, are you only running into this issue while trying to reach this one particular website?

Not only I am having this issue for one particular website. There are a few websites which are not opening there.

ok

I believe it indeed is a issue with these websites blocking Tor or making it difficult for users to connect to (Ticket40013#note_2729589).

Sometimes websites will block Tor users because they can’t tell the difference between the average Tor user and automated traffic. The best success we’ve had in getting sites to unblock Tor users is getting users to contact the site administrators directly. Something like this might do the trick:

“Hi! I tried to access your site xyz.com while using Tor Browser and discovered that you don’t allow Tor users to access your site. I urge you to reconsider this decision; Tor is used by people all over the world to protect their privacy and fight censorship. By blocking Tor users, you are likely blocking people in repressive countries who want to use a free internet, journalists and researchers who want to protect themselves from discovery, whistleblowers, activists, and ordinary people who want to opt out of invasive third party tracking. Please take a strong stance in favor of digital privacy and internet freedom, and allow Tor users access to xyz.com. Thank you.”

In the case of banks, and other sensitive websites, it is also common to see geography-based blocking (if a bank knows you generally access their services from one country, and suddenly you are connecting from an exit relay on the other side of the world, your account may be locked or suspended).

If you are unable to connect to an onion service, please see I cannot reach X.onion!.
