"Secure Connection Not Available" on https sites

I have https mode enabled on Tor browser. I decided to visit duckduckgo.com and I got this error:

Duckduckgo supports HTTPS, so why am I getting this error? Is this an SSL stripping attack? Would it be safe if I clicked continue to https site?

Sorry I can’t help you with the error, but as far as DDG goes, is there any reason why you’re not using their .onion service, as below?

The website https://www.myip.com/ also exhibits differing behaviours, some times its possible to load the site no problem, other times it immediately directs to a warning saying to enable JavaScript for purpose of Captcha.
(In safest mode on latest TBA and Desktop Linux)

WORKSFORME (windows) - both alpha 11.5a12 and release 11.0.13

  • directly going to https://duckduckgo.com/ in the url bar
  • searching from search field on about:tor

Try again and report back

I have been using HTTPS Only-mode in non-Tor Firefox for a few months now, and this occasionally occurs. Clicking the refresh button usually does not resolve it, but for some reason refreshing the site by selecting the address bar and hitting Enter removes the warning.
