Hello, why do I receive a sudden increase in obscene spam texts (to my mobile phone number) shortly after visiting a porn site via the Tor Browser? I cant use the strictest security level and still see the pictures :-(. is there a way I can get more privacy? I’m using Windows 10 Home, Browser 12.0.1, “Safer” security level.
Using Tor Browser there is no way for the sites to know your phone number if you did not add it to any of the sites that you visit.
Good to know (I believe you). I certainly did not give my phone number to any porn site (or credit card #, which would require a phone #!).
Before I started using the Tor browser, after visiting a porn site (via Chrome “Incognito”) I got a clear increase in such texts, so I think they got my phone # then. As a result of getting those texts, I stopped visiting those sites, and the bawdy emails and texts gradually decreased. Recently, very shortly after using Tor to go to such a site, I got one such text, and then a similar style email message to this address (at which I get a lot of junk mail; probably everyone does), but no more such text and emails have come since those two, so maybe it was a double(?!) coincidence, and at least there is an improvement in using Tor. Since this email site is prone to junk, I wonder if sending this message will generate more obscene junk texts or emails? “We’ll” see!
