Connection Assist for Tor

Connection Assist has been added to Tor Browser 11.5:

In collaboration with the Anti-Censorship team at the Tor Project, we’ve sought to reduce this burden with the introduction of Connection Assist: a new feature that when required will offer to automatically apply the bridge configuration we think will work best in your location for you.

Can users using the Tor system daemon use this feature?

The Connection Assist implementation is part of Tor Browser, not of the tor daemon. There is no direct way to use it from the tor daemon.

But if you have some scripting skills you could call the Circumvention Settings API (which Connection Assist uses) yourself and configure tor accordingly. See the documentation of the API:

Are there plans to implement something similar for the tor daemon?

Not for now, there are no plans to make tor talk to the API.
